  1. I've been to one of Diamond's presentation's and decided not to purchase. Since that presentation I've no longer been able to reserve a room at any of the Monarch locations. My association dues are continually climbing. If I'm unable to use my points, why am I being charged for dues?

    1. My name is Clarion Johnson and I am a consumer protection reporter for a subscription legal publication called The Capitol Forum. We have been investigating the timeshare industry and have been looking closely at Diamond.

I am currently working on a story regarding the experience of legacy Monarch owners now that Diamond has taken over. I encourage you all to look at the website below. It describes a recent court victory by former Monarch owners who alleged that they were upsold by a Diamond with the understanding that they would be able to access Palm Canyon Resort. Despite the representations made in the sales presentation, plaintiffs alleged that they were unable to book at Canyon. The case was assigned to arbitration and Diamond was ordered to refund the former owners $40K plus attorneys fees. I highlighted this decision in a recent article.

    1. My HOA fees continue to rise each year supposedly because so many Monarch folks bought into Diamond and left the rest of us to carry the load. I do have access to about 40 resorts due to the "connection" option which costs a few bucks each year. I haven't had any problem booking vacations but I was just contacted by Diamond and told that they now OWN all of Monarch! Could not find anything on the web that said that was true. They continue to lie and increase HOA fees! That hasn't changed. However, I did see on my HOA fees statement that Monarch still is in the red. Not sure what that means for us at this point except higher HOA fees until the debt is paid.
